15 Day Challenge – STARTS 1/7/19

15-Day Challenge: It’s time to challenge yourself to fuel your body with foods that will kick-start some major fat burning, and to exercise in a way that will do the same.

[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_size=”23″ font_color=”%23F7F0DE” width=”620″ line_height=”31″]As you all know, I’m not a huge fan of strict programs, diets or quick fixes …but what about those times when you want to tighten up a bit?

You know maybe after a vacation, a birthday weekend, or the holidays?

Times when you may have indulged just a bit and you want to just buckle down and focus.

I’m sorry, but I’m not going to sit here and tell you that my diet doesn’t change if I’m trying to lose a little body fat, increase my energy, or get rid of my sugar cravings. There are certain things I know I have to take out or decrease to feel my best – BUT, there are also things that I have to ADD TO my diet to feel my best. It’s not always about constantly taking away – and that is a big focus of this challenge.[/text_block]

[text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left”]R8400I know for myself as well as my clients, having some guidelines to follow short-term can increase accountability. It’s not about doing a crazy cleanse or a 12- week competition prep plan, it’s just about tightening up your nutrition for a short period of time and using your biofeedback tools, during that time, to transition into a more sustainable way of eating.

I’m not talking complete deprivation, or handing out specific meal plans and saying, “here, eat this”. That’s just foolish, and I can tell you from experience, will most likely lead to bingeing once you “mess up”.

I’m talking about challenging yourself to fuel your body with foods that will kick-start some major fat burning, and to exercise in a way that will do the same. Focusing on the role hormones play in fat loss, not just the old way of calories in versus calories out – which we know doesn’t work long-term. This challenge is about creating an improvement FOR YOU…it’s not a one size fits all approach – at ALL. I will not make you buy supplements for this FREE challenge, I will not ask you to buy all organic foods, not eat your kids birthday cake or give up wine. What I will ask you to do is to eat with INTENTION. To make choices you will be proud of. And to ask yourself a WHOLE bunch of questions, because honestly, YOU are the one with all of your answers, not me 🙂

Since I get requests from my coaching clients ALLL the time, I decided to go ahead and put something together. Since 2015, myself, along with hundreds of women I work with, have completed this challenge and I gotta tell you, we always feel a HELL of a lot better for doing it.[/text_block]

With the 15 Day Challenge You Will Receive:

  • Videos

As part of the 15 Day Challenge you will have access to two total body strength training videos that can be done at home or in the gym including exercise demonstrations, modifications and progressions perfect for all fitness levels!

  • Closed Facebook Support Page

I will be coaching daily via the closed FB page (LIVE streaming and posts) to provide guidance, motivation, and inspiration every step of the way. You will also have the support of other women in the group to share your process, struggles and successes with.

  • Educational Manual

The 15 Day Challenge is a complete program. Included in the program is an easy to understand e-book discussing WHY you will be doing what you’re doing. Information on important hormones and how they relate to fat loss, *sample* meal plans, food lists, what to choose when eating out as well as recipes for each phase in the challenge is included. The e-book also includes education on habits, willpower and tips on how to transfer what you learn during the Challenge into your everyday lifestyle.

Who is this program for?

Who is this program NOT for?

  • Women who want to ignite the motivation flame, see some results, and continue on their fat loss path long after the 15 days.
  • Women who want to learn more about how hormones affect their body and as a result, feel lighter, tighter and less bloated.
  • Women who want to learn more about the power of habit, willpower and positive thoughts as they relate to losing body fat.
  • Women who want to experience secondary benefits like more energy, clearer skin and an effective way to manage stress
  • Women who who feel “stuck” with their fitness and fat loss goals and want to learn the most effective and efficient ways to exercise to optimize fat burning.
  • Anyone unwilling to put the work in, both in the kitchen and with their mindset, to create a foundation for a lifestyle change. Although this is only 15 days, you have to be willing to put the effort in. Like anything else, you get out of it what you put into it, and the mindset piece is just as – if not more important – than the diet and exercise piece.
  • Anyone who is looking to lose weight fast. Although weight loss was a side-effect of the challenge, it is not the primary focus. The focus is to listen to, and learn from, the feedback that you are getting everyday from your body.
  • Anyone who wants to be told exactly what to eat and when to eat it. You will be guided through this, but it is not a “here take this” type of program. You will be responsible for making your own choices and meals. There will be recipes and suggested meal plans, but it will only work if you listen to your body, not my meal plan.
  • Anyone training for a figure competition or for performance of any kind. Exercise will be part of this plan, but it is not the primary focus. The focus is to start burning fat more efficiently, which takes some adjusting. If you are training for an event where you must exercise intensely on a regular basis, I suggest skipping this program until after the event.

Allison H. Before and After

I LOVED this challenge. It really revamped not only my diet, but my way of thinking which I totally needed. Since mid June I had been on a pretty slippery slope diet wise, and while I was still exercising regularly, I really started to see the effects of my poor eating habits as my clothes got tighter, my general energy was depleted and the scale inched its way back up to a place where I vowed I would never be again. When you posted about the 15DC originally it took me all of about 10 seconds and a quick glance at my calendar to decide I wanted to participate. I knew you would give me the tools I needed to get back on track. BUT, I got so much more out of it than just that.

Here is what I took away from this challenge:

  1. Being prepared is half the battle. As long as I have healthy options readily available I am less likely to take the quick & easy (often unhealthy) way out.
  2. A lot of my previous habits although thought to be healthy, were actually detrimental to fat loss
  3. I am more aware of how I react to certain foods and make decisions based on how I want to feel rather than the instant gratification.
  4. Learning how to *feel* hunger, ride out cravings, and break free of the carbohydrate cycle.
  5. Focusing on positives rather than negatives
  6. Walking is seriously the best thing in the whole world, ever. Going into the challenge I was feeling achy and sore all the time. Throughout the challenge I not only walked more, I moved more (by tracking steps I was more aware when I had been sitting for too long) I strength trained every other day (days 6-15) and took time to really stretch and I feel fantastic, practically no more achiness.
  7. BCAA’s are also the best thing in the world, ever.
  8. Learning to break habits by changing the “action” to get the “reward”
  9. Understanding that life happens and its ok to follow the 90/10 or 80/20 rule as long as you know how to avoid the slippery slope and knowing that sometimes little indulgences will leave you feeling not so great, but it you should be making mindful decisions as to not beat yourself up over them.
  10. Writing things down is extremely helpful in keeping you accountable.

My goals were to get my diet under control which I feel confident that I have accomplished, as well as to exercise and consume a diet that will help regulate my cycle (I understand this will take time) and lastly to get you some great “after pics” I feel like the progress that I have made physically and mentally in the 15 short days is a great start to living a life that can make me the best me that I can be. My clothes fit better, my confidence is high and my energy has drastically improved. I have lost 11 pounds and 7.5 overall inches since October 6th (see pictures attached). My plan is to continue using the tools and knowledge I have gained over the last 15 days to make this a lifestyle that I can live with and maintain without feeling deprived. Thank you Keri, for your great knowledge and motivation, always. Your passion for this truly shines through.

Seriously, do this program!

By doing this challenge, I really became aware of how much I was eating – that little nibble there, that little piece there. For a long while, I had been kidding myself that I was ‘doing the right thing’. Now, I realize I was just fooling myself. This challenge has allowed me to refocus. Eating whole foods can be delicious and exciting, and although it takes a little more work and preparedness, the results are worth it! I am definitely going to incorporate these changes into my everyday life. I do not feel deprived and know that when ‘life happens and ‘temptations abound’ I have the tools to make the better choice!

 Stephanie: Before and After

When I signed up to do the 15 day challenge last year, I thought I would do the challenge as a way to lose the weight I gained over the holidays and “restart” from there.  But, something strange happened – I saw results from those 2 weeks and decided to keep with it.  Now, I’ve been on a diet since I was 14 yrs old.  Always trying cut down, count calories, track points, measure food, etc.  I would lose weight and then slowly, but surely, put it back on.  My exercise regimen consisted of 40 minutes on the elliptical and weight training on the equipment at the gym, and I would beat myself up if I didn’t do that at least 3x a week.

Coming to the realization that I didn’t need to be on a diet, that making small changes to my everyday eating can make a difference was eye opening. But what really changed for me was how I looked at exercise.  I still try to go to the gym at least 3x a week, but now I am exercising so much smarter than I ever was.  I can honestly say that I feel like I work out less than I was before, but have seen results that I’ve never seen in my life.

I’m not the lowest weight I’ve been in my life, but I’m in the best shape I’ve even been and have honestly never looked better.

When people ask me what I “did”, I just tell them I’m living the LEAN life. 😉  Thank you!

Susan M.

 Susan M.: Before and After

I am 47, and have lost approximately 40 pounds (going from 212 to 175ish) since March when I did my first 15 day challenge.

I went from size 18-20 to comfortable size 12.

I think what has worked for me is really understanding the “right” approach, knowing why cutting back on certain foods and adding others, like protein is so important.

At the beginning I had terrible cravings for carbs but was able to deal with them by drinking cocoa in my coffee and trusting that the cravings will pass.

I find the FB support from you and the group to be essential. I can get feedback on my questions but also have learned a lot from other’s posts.

The concept of choice has been instrumental in my progress. I’m really trying not to be so hard on myself, essentially taking control of my actions because I want results.

Before your coaching I tried Weight Watchers and many other fad diets but never had these results – but most importantly I don’t feel hungry all the time, I don’t feel confused about what to do i.e the no carb vs low fat debate etc. I now know what to do any why.

In any case I am still on my journey, but I’ve learned so much. Thank you Keri

Thank you very much for letting me be a part of this challenge. I learned so much about myself and how different foods effect me and most importantly I learned that I don’t need to eat certain foods and I will still survive 🙂

During the 15 day challenge I was surprised to find that I never felt deprived of any food. When I was getting ready to start, I wondered, “How am I ever going to make it without eating pizza?” Well, I made it and never craved it. I watch my family eat it twice and didn’t feel the urge to take a bite. Another thing that surprised me was how much energy I had throughout the challenge. I woke up in the morning feeling rested. I no longer needed coffee to get me through afternoon slumps. Overall, I felt great. I am so happy I was able to be a part of this challenge.

LaurabeforeandafterpicsSo here are 15 things I learned from the 15 Day Challenge:

1. Sugar is not necessary in my espresso but half n half is.
2. I can go out to a party and bring my own food and drinks.
3. I was really overeating fruits and having just one or two servings a day is
perfect
4. Feeling bloated after wine is a real thing
5. I don’t need to salt my food at all
6. I feel awful after a night of nachos and pizza
7. Walking is wonderful
8. Giving into cravings just increases your cravings
9. I get hungry more often but a quick bite of protein fixes that immediately
10. Sleep is really important when battling cravings
11. BCAAs become a sweet treat
12. FOOD PREP IS A MUST
13. People might think you are pregnant when you don’t drink
14 I lost 1/2 an inch on all site measurements and the scale dropped 5 pounds (the first time this has happened in a year)
15. Keri Herbert Mantie is so knowledgeable and supportive that she makes this challenge a lifestyle change and NOT a quick weekend cleanse soon to be forgotten. Thank you for challenging me to go beyond what I thought I could handle and introducing me to new, healthy habits. I can’t wait to see where the next 15 days lead me.
(P.S my fiancé just told me he can’t believe how motivated I was and how, for the first time, I wasn’t just dieting and cheating)

Throughout this challenge, I learned a lot about myself, my eating habits, my discipline, and my overall health in general. I also learned that I love eating chicken for breakfast, eggs are awesome but if you eat too many you feel like you’re going to turn into an egg, peanuts are not NUTS- they are a LEGUME- and they are off limits during the 15 Day Challenge (oops), and as much as I LOVE pizza, white wine, and beer… I love even more waking up early and feeling good about myself, feeling well rested, refreshed, and ready to start the day. IT IS SO WORTH IT TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY!

I lost TWELVE pounds during this challenge- holy cow! I know!! It seems crazy to me too! My only regret is that I was too self-conscious to take the before pics and measurements. Next time!

THANK YOU KERI – YOU ROCK!![/text_block]

Would I recommend the 15dc? Omg YES!!!!! and have already multiple times. As a 46 year old who thought she knew a lot about nutrition since trying every weight loss plan from calorie counting to weight watchers to meal replacement shakes, I got a huge wakeup call with the 15dc. Keri taught me that good fats are not the enemy -in fact they are necessary in moderation for fat loss. I learned that calories in/calories out is NOT the most effective way to eat- the quality of the calories and when those calories are consumed matter much more. And I don’t have to be starving in order to lose body fat. Thru the 15DC I never felt deprived. I never got ravenously hungry so I didn’t ever eat with abandon. I could’ve easily done 30 days & am planning on taking everything I’ve learned and making this way of eating my new norm. The online coaching and the support of the other members of the 15DC made a huge impact on my success. I’m going to miss checking in with all the ladies every day. Keri answers every question so quickly and speaks in terms that are easy to understand. Soo happy I did the 15DC![/text_block]

What I took away from this challenge is that food is a way of life it’s something you have to do but with the right guidance comes the correct knowledge which is what Keri did a fantastic job teaching. Prior to doing this I thought I’ll just eat fat free low cal and loose weight. Did I? Sure but it always came back. Knowing What and How to eat is definitely a journey and can be hard but now I have the confidence in making the right decisions and being able to judge, is it my hunger or is it my cravings am I just eating cause I can or am I eating cause I’m hungry. These are things I never paid attention to before. Food shopping and food prep was huge for me and is what got me thru but also small changes like adding protein at every meal made me fuller and have less cravings. Finally I noticed a change in how I felt and my energy (as much as I could) and also around my waist line.

I think it will always be a struggle but having my new found knowledge I think that it will also be easier to achieve my goals of being lean and living a healthy lifestyle. Thanks Keri – you’re a great coach!![/text_block]

As a pretty disciplined person I have done challenges like this by myself with the help of books and websites. But nothing can replace a support group of highly motivated women with an inspiring coach. I have started 2015 with a new outlook and combined with some business goals of my own I feel like I’m in a pretty powerful place. I would definitely do Keri Mantie’s challenge again. The coaching Keri Mantie provided to our group for this challenge was amazing.  She was always present, and any question got answered very quickly.  I feel I’ve gained more of a knowledge and control over what I eat and when I eat it.  My eyes have been opened to a whole new way of exercising to my advantage and eating things that I would never have thought would be advantageous to my body.  Keri fostered a “team” type approach within the group…we were all in it together to help each other learn from the experience.  Thank you Keri![/text_block]

I am one happy 15-day Challenger! I have tried lots of diets, and have been overweight my whole life. Same Cycle over and over, lose than gain, lose than gain, constantly battling the scale. Then I found Keri, thanks to a close friend. Keri’s guidance, knowledge, and support have opened my eyes to the world of clean eating. Who knew healthy could taste so good or more importantly make me feel so good?!? Thanks to this group, the support of Keri and fellow challengers, the great recipes, and all the answers to why this way of eating works, I now have the tools to continue this way of clean eating as a lifestyle change. I have never had more energy, patience, and satisfaction than I have after going through these 15 days. My clothes fit better, my life is less stressful, and I have learned to cut myself some slack when life happens and just get right back to a healthy way of living asap, which is one of the most important things I think I have taken away from Keri’s wonderful coaching.Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! The word that pops into my head when I think of the 15DC is “Awareness”. Both my husband I are much more aware of what we eat and how it directly effects our energy, digestion & mood. We both thought we would power through this challenge, lose a few pounds and be on our merry way…but it was SO much more than that. It was life changing for both of us and we no longer see it as a challenge …but instead our new lifestyle. Thank you![/text_block]

Prior to the 15 Day Challenge I was a gym rat, working out twice a day, 6 days a week, trying to out train a very bad diet (and not seeing any change the past year).  Starting in October it became a downward spiral of birthdays and holiday celebrations.  This challenge came at the perfect time for me.  I found Keri’s guidance and approach to be exactly what I needed.  She didn’t only tell us what to do but gave us the WHY.  She also introduced us to other experts like Primal Potential to help us learn more.  She changed many of our reliance to the scale, which was not an easy task.  Keri taught us to look to other things to know that we are on the track.   For me I got so much out of this.  The scale aside, I am on a belt hole that has never been used.  My clothes feel better on and I feel more comfortable in them.  I am able to sleep longer and deeper than I ever have.  I have learned how to eat and taste again.  I have much more enjoyment in what I eat and don’t take it for granted since I am not indulging every day.  I eat slower now so I can enjoy the flavors.  I am enjoying finding new recipes with my husband and tasting different things.  It is a new hobby we are enjoying doing together.   Overall, I think the best part of this challenge is that I did it.  I may not have stuck to 100% but I stayed strong where I could and never beat myself up if I slipped.  I am so proud of myself for doing this and will keep on going- It’s a new way of life.[/text_block]

Today is the final day of the 15 day challenge and I can honestly say I’m sad. Sad because the past two weeks have been an eye opening life changer. Being a part of Lean In 14 and 15 I should already know this and be ahead of where I am but something about the challenge really pushed me to say with my goals. I now know how to approach good in a healthy and even fun way. And more importantly I know if I have something that maybe isn’t the best that doesn’t mean everything is ruined and it’s a free for all “until Monday”. Enjoy it. Move on. Go back to better choices the next meal. The support and camaraderie of everyone in the group was beyond anything I could imagine. Hearing other people having the same struggles, weaknesses and accomplishments really made the 15 days. I am down 10 pounds, happy, healthy, and on my way to a lean life. Thank you Keri for your support and knowledge. And thank you 15DC ladies! You guys are the best![/text_block]

Stephanie G.

As a chronic dieter for 25+ years, I was convinced that I knew everything there was to know about how to lose weight and that my struggles with weight loss were due to my weak willpower when it came to food. I exercised 6-7 days a week for an hour (or more on the weekends) and tried desperately to be ‘good’ and stick to 1200 calories which inevitably ended in some kind of binge typically triggered by a couple glasses of wine in the evening. I was at the point where I thought, “maybe I’m just destined to be fat” Every morning my mood was dictated by the stupid number on the scale.

This challenge has been a lifechanger for me. Within the first 5 days of the challenge, I felt more satiated, less stressed, my skin looked better and I was sleeping like a log. Keri’s coaching, positive reinforcement and “straight talk” was a huge driver for my motivation. And while I initially questioned the value of the Facebook group, night after night I would find myself scrolling through facebook getting tons of valuable insights, alot of “a-ha! me too” moments and not to mention having some laughs knowing there was a group of people that were in it with me. It was one of the best parts of the challenge.

At the conclusion of 15 days, I’m fitting into pants that didn’t fit two weeks ago and I’m down 8 lbs (even though I know it’s about fat loss, not weight loss). I immediately signed up for the Lean in ’15 Group and am so grateful that this is part of my life now, not just another diet. I’m still working on my ‘scale addiction’ and my need to exercise (hey, I’m a work in progress) but I feel like I have a framework and a plan.

Thank you Keri, in many ways you saved me. And while Olivia Pope may be my celebrity “spirit animal” you’ve given her a run for her money 🙂[/text_block]

I honestly don’t know where to begin! I loved the challenge and would recommend it in a heartbeat and already have. You are a great guide and leader providing motivation and wisdom. The group flourished under your leadership. The members of the group provided additional motivation and encouragement. I think anyone, whether you are married, single, old, young, divorced or a parent, could relate to the struggles and/or accomplishments of anyone in the group.

There is so much I have gained from this experience. I feel I’m on a better path to a healthy lifestyle which includes being a good role model for my children when they begin to make their own food choices. I never could understand why I ate the junk when I knew it would make me feel like crap, mentally & physically, now I have a better understanding thanks to you. I refer to you as Gazoo (the flintstones) on my shoulder telling me the following: Be aware of what I am eating recognizing how it is going to make me feel and, reminding me not to get discouraged that it will take time and my own good choices to achieve the results I desire. I look forward to continue working with you. THANK YOU!!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • q-iconCan I have coffee?

Yes, I would never do that to you.

  • q-iconCan I have alcohol?

For the first 10 days, I suggest eliminating it, but I’m not the food police. I suggest cutting back, but we are all starting at different places. If you’ve drink 2 glasses of wine 7 nights a week, cutting back to 2 glasses 2 times per week will be a huge decrease for you and you will probably feel the benefits. Bottom line – everything is YOUR choice.

  • q-iconWhat if I can’t exercise?

Totally fine, there were quite a few women who were unable to do much else besides walk and they still ended up with great results.

  • q-iconDo I have to follow the exercise videos you provide?

Not at all. Nothing is mandatory. You will learn the benefits of efficient exercise and I will provide you with a few examples of what I find that to be, but I encourage you to do what you like to do!

  • q-iconI have a birthday party / night out / anniversary etc. planned for right in the middle of the challenge. Will going “off plan” for that day / night derail my results?

My birthday fell within the trial run of the 15DC and I went out to dinner, had drinks and dessert and still finished strong and with great results. If you follow the plan 90% of the time, you will see some great benefits! This is not about giving up every single thing you love for 15 Days and then diving face first into a pint of Ben & Jerry’s on day 16. I don’t want you to feel deprived, but I do want you to understand that to see and feel results, choices need to be made. We will come up with a game-plan for REAL LIFE situations such as the above so you can continue to feel great while getting results without feeling like you need to be a hermit to stay on track 🙂

  • q-iconDo I have to start on the 28th?

No, however the private coaching group will only run from the 28th – March 1st.

  • q-iconWhat will we be eating? Is there a lot of prep involved?

Lots of proteins, nuts, avocados, eggs, oils, and vegetables. Being prepared is the key to success, but that definitely doesn’t mean lengthy recipes or a lot of time in the kitchen. I do focus solely on WHOLE FOODS, but again if you are used to eating a Big Mac for lunch everyday , a packaged protein bar isn’t a terrible option for YOU. None of us are going into this eating the exact same way. I don’t expect everyone to eat the exact same way during the challenge. As long as you choose foods that are closer to the fat loss side of the spectrum, and foods that represent an improvement for you, you’ll feel great!

  • q-iconI’m a vegetarian, can I do this challenge?

Do you like eggs? 🙂 Yes, we’ve had quite a few vegetarians go through our previous challenges and they did great.

  • q-iconI don’t have Facebook, can I email or message you with any questions along the way?

Unfortunately no. All of the coaching will be done in a group format on the closed Facebook page.

  • q-iconI can’t live without my _____________ – can I still do the challenge?

Yes! We had a number of women who were not willing to give up cream in their coffee (or whatever it was for them) and they were still able to learn a ton and get great results. This isn’t a crash diet. It’s 15 Days of cleaning up your diet and getting rid of some of the “extras”…and that will look entirely different for everyone.
